ANNUAL REPORT

APRIL 22,1999

Thanks for a great year for Forest Cove. We are happy to report the accomplishments in the Cove during the past year. There have been a few disappointments which we will mention but not dwell upon.

  1. Community Center-It continues to "pay it's way," and to be a vital part of Forest Cove since it serves its citizens in many ways. Thanks to Ruth Flake for the excellent management.
  2. Forest Cove Swimming Pool - Management was contracted to Gator Services again this year. They continued to do a fine job.
  3. Street signs - The City of Houston continues to install new street signs with block numbers to aid the police and firemen in locating homes more efficiently.
  4. Drainage - The City of Houston are now cleaning our ditches to help our drainage problems.
  5. Street Lights - This work is in progress. The number of lights proposed to be added to Forest Cove is 178.
  6. Surveying - Hovis Surveyors completed a survey to clear up outstanding property boundaries, owned by Forest Cove Property Owners Association, Inc.
  7. Crime Watch - We have been involved with the City of Houston Positive Interaction Program and our Crime Watch receives information on a monthly basis. The public can attend the PIP meeting on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Kingwood Church of Christ located on Woodland Hills Drive.
  8. Dredging of the San Jacinto River - Several board members attended a presentation held at Kingwood College. The City of Houston, San Jacinto River Authority and other representatives were there to discuss this study of the River. The final study will be ready in August of 1999.
  9. Sidewalks - The City of Houston has a sidewalk program. Some residents on Chestnut Ridge, Forest Cove Drive, and Hamblen Road have expressed interest. However, the Forest Cove Board is seeking consensus.
  10. Deed Restrictions - Through Community Asset Managment, Inc. we have been diligently pursuing any violation in order to maintain a better appearance in Forest Cove. We are working on updating or revising the Deed Restrictions since they were written as far back as 1961. During 1999, we will be asking residents for their approve of revised deed restrictions.
  11. We had another major flooding of the Community Center and our pool in November and the Board is working closely with our insurance company for funds to make the necessary repairs. You should be aware of the fact that the 130 living units that were destroyed by the October 1994 flood would also have been flooded again in the 1998 flood.
  12. Baseball and Swim Team contracts have been approved.
  13. We have tried to be alert to any City of Houston programs that may be beneficial to Forest Cove.
  14. Kurt Hilarides has created Forest Cove website which may be found at http://forestcove.vonLcom/. The Forest Cove Property Owners Board continues to publish the Beacon to keep the community better informed.
  15. Upon invitation we are participating in the Kingwood Government Relation Committee (GRC).

The $155,000 check written to F.C.O.P.A. by M.U.D. prior to annexation was never honored.. The City of Houston stopped payment on this check. All the projects we wanted to complete with this money have been delayed; but we have
not abandoned efforts to have the City of Houston give us the money.

We are continuing to plan ahead on some of the following projects that have been deferred due to lack of funds: (1) Covered Picnic and Basketball area, (2) More parking area around our facilities, (3) Playground equipment, and (4) Entrance signs for our community. Please let us know of worthwhile projects for Forest Cove.

Our next event in Forest Cove is July 4th and we hope everyone is planning to attend and have a great day. Tickets for the Barbecue will go on sale in June, see any Board Member to purchase them. If you have any suggestions to help us make this a more enjoyable day, please call Marian Burrows 281-358-3033 or Vicki Flake 281-358-2210. It would be appropriate if everyone displayed our Nations flag that day.

The Board urges all of Forest Cove residents to attend the Forest Cove Property Owners Association, Inc. annual meeting. May 19, 1999 at 8:00p.m. at our Community Bidg. The financial report and annual budget will be available Election - May 19, 1999 and Absentee Voting May 15, 1999 at 10:00 A.M. to 1:OOP.M. at the Community Building.

Thank you for allowing us to serve you.

Your Board Members,

BoardSignatures
