F.C.P.O.A., Inc.
Monthly Meeting
January 28,1999
- Mrs. Flake called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m.. All Board members,
except Mr. Neiman, were present.
Mr. Harran read the minutes from the December 17, 1998 meeting; Mrs. Burrows
motioned to accept them as read, Mr. Hovenkamp seconded and they were unanimously
accepted.
Ms. Debbie Vaughn, resident of Forest Cove and Girl Scout representative,
asked the Board for permission to use the Community Center on February
21, 1999 for a gathering of approximately 200 girl scouts; and in lieu
of rent, proposed to have the girl scouts clean up the flower beds around
the Community Center and clean up the Community Center after the meeting.
Mr. Atchison motioned to approve the request; seconded by Mr. Hemandez
and the motion was unanimously approved.
Two Residents also addressed the Board meeting:
- A resident of Burning Tree wanted everyone to know that there were two
(2) accidents on her street (a bad curve, in her opinion) as well as motorists
carving ruts on her lawn. She is very concerned about the safety of residents
at this curve and has contacted the police and will look into having speed
bumps installed.
- A resident (new buyer) wanted to know what she could do to get the lot
next to her property cleaned up and have a tree removed that seems to be
ready to fall on her garage.. ...she was advised to contact City of Houston
officials.
Treasurer's Report - Mr. Gary Price (Price & Price CPA firm)
reviewed our financial statements for the year 1998. He also noted a request
from a resident that the due date for Maintenance/Management Fees be changed
from January 1 to January 15......the Board will discuss the request in
an executive session.
Community Center - Mrs. Ruth Flake noted the following:
- There were two (2) rentals in January.
- A large piece of tree near the dumpster needs to be removed.
- Would like to have volunteers to replace light bulbs.
- The gutters need cleaning.
- The street in front of the building is in need of repair before someone
gets hurt.
Pool Report - Gator Services president, Mr. Berry, passed out copies
of his monthly report.
Everything is o.k. and noted the following items in particular:
- Baby pool leaks will cost $170 to repair.
- Pool needs gates and doors to be brought up to City of Houston specifications.
- Drinking fountain needs repair.
Mr. Atchison will coordinate clearing these items with Mr. Berry. Also,
Mrs. Flake will contact City of Houston for an adjustment on water costs
to refill the pool after the November flood.
Beacon. - Mrs. Wray reported that due to holidays she would combine
the January and and February issues. She also reported that Mr. Neiman
advised that although there were 105 police reports in the Kingwood area
last month, none were in the Forest Cove area, and again reminded residents
to have the HPD check your property when you're going to be away for vacations.
Deed Restriction Violations - All recommended letters/actions will
be reviewed in an executive session.
Old Business
- City of Houston violation notice about repairs
to the fence on Burning Tree.... bids have been requested.
- City of Houston is sending a representative to our February 25 meeting
to discuss/explain their sidewalk program.
New Business
- Per Mrs. Flake, she doesn't think Mr. Rob
Todd is too interested in helping us recover the $155k that the former
F.C.M.U.D. donated to the F.C.P.O.A. There was much discussion on this
item and the Board felt it would be better to wait on the City of Houston
to settle their dispute with K.S.A. and KWVFD before we initiate any action.
- Mr. Grahamn noted it would cost $700/800 to have crushed concrete dropped
on the driveway to the Marina boat ramp....he'll get a firm price and report
back to the Board.
-
- Adjourn - Mrs. Burrows motioned to adjourn; Mr. Harran seconded
and the motion was unanimously approved at 8:50 p.m..
