ANNUAL REPORT

APRIL 28, 1998

Thanks for a great year for Forest Cove. We are happy to report the accomplishments achieved in the Cove during the past year. There have been a few disappointments, which we will mention but not dwell on.

1. Community Center - It continues to "pay its way," and to be a vital part of Forest Cove since it serves its citizens in many ways. Thanks to Ruth Flake for the excellent management.

2. Forest Cove Swimming Pool - Management was assigned to Gator Services again this year. They did a fine job last year.

3. Street signs - The City of Houston installed new street signs with block numbers to aid the police and firemen in locating homes more efficiently.

4. Drainage - The City of Houston has begun cleaning our ditches to help our drainage problems.

5. Street Lights - This work is in progress. The number of lights proposed to be added to Forest Cove is 178.

6. Surveying - Hovis Surveyors are surveying to determine the boundaries of the property own by Forest Cove Owners Property Association, Inc.

7. Crime Watch - Has been well received and attended. Guest speakers have been very interesting. But as with any volunteer group Crime Watch still needs workers. We have been involved with the City of Houston Positive Interaction Program that our Crime Watch receives information from. The public can attend the P.LP. meeting on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.

8. Dredging of the San Jacinto River - Several board members have attended the study on this, held at Kingwood College. The City of Houston, San Jacinto River Authority and other representative were there to discuss this study of the River.

9. Sidewalks - The City of Houston has a sidewalk program Forest Cove is looking into. Hamblen Road has been approved. Both sides of Hamblen, from Northshore to Rustic Bridge will have sidewalks. Walkers and Bicycle Riders will be safer.

10. Traffic Problems - Speed Humps were installed by the City of Houston. Neighbors applied and got permits. This was to help slow the traffic. We can't keep the speeders from going to other streets, though.

11. Deed Restrictions - Through C.A.M. we have been diligently pursuing any violation in order to maintain a better appearance in Forest Cove. We are working on updating the Deed Restrictions since they were written back in 1965.

The following projects involved a cost to Forest Cove Property Owners Assoc. (a) Hovis Surveyors (b) Street Lights (c) Management of Pool, including Life Guards and Maintenance,, (d) Management of Community Building (e) Lawyers for Legal Fees, (f) Grounds upkeep for our facilities, (g) Utilities and Insurance for our facilities, (h) Accounting - Billings, Collections and Service, (i) Management Company for Restrictions, j) Permits for Marina, Swimming Pool from City of Houston, (k) Mail-Outs and Printing of Forest Cove Beacon, (l) July 4th Community Celebration.

The $155,000 check written to F.C.O.P.A. by M.U.D. prior to annexation did not clear. The City of Houston stopped payment on this check. All the projects we wanted to complete with this money have been delayed.

We are continuing to plan ahead on some of the following projects that have been deferred: (1) Covered Picnic and Basketball area, (2) More parking area around our facilities, (3) Playground equipment, and (4) Entrance signs for our community. Please let us know of worthwhile projects for Forest Cove.

Our next event in Forest Cove is July 4th and we hope everyone is planning to attend and have a great day. Tickets for the Barbecue will go on sale in May, sec any Board Member to purchase them. If you have any suggestions to help us make this a more enjoyable day, please call Marian Burrows 28l-3~3O33 or Vicki Flake 281-358-2210. Our Theme this year is "Stand Up and Be Counted". It would he appropriate if everyone displayed our Nations flag that day. We still need volunteers to help and you can sign up at our next meeting, June 15, 1998 at 7:00p.m. at the Community Building.

The Board urges all of Forest Cove residents to attend the Forest Cove Property Owners Association, Inc. annual meeting, May 21, 1998 at 8:00p.m. at our Community Bldg. The financial report and annual budget for next fiscal year will be available. Election - May 21, 1998 and Absentee Voting May 16, 1998 at 10:00-1:00 at Community Building.

Thank you for allowing us to serve you.
